Word of the Year

New Year's Resolutions... yikes. Instead of jotting down and mentally storing a long, wordy, and ultimately unaccomplished list of my New Year's resolutions, I have decided to switch it up a bit this year. I mean, who really sticks to a list of yearly resolutions any way? I do not. I can not. Sure, I've tried the whole fancy pen, glitter ink, swirly handwritten resolutions in the planner- make it pretty and concrete, you know? But let's get real, who ends up running a 5k every month with a baby? Not this girl. This year I'm on board with some pretty creative ladies in choosing one word to describe my hopes, dreams, and just daily life for 2014.

Full.

I want 2014 to be full to its brim. Full of new experiences and precious moments. Full of adventures with new baby friends.

Full of early mornings. Full of happy to be awake mornings. Full of homemade white peppermint mochas.

Full of new dance moves and laughter. Full of silliness. Full of life.

Full of new milestones for Austin and new goals for myself. New outlooks and time management. I want this year to be busy. I want this year to be full of us living our lives. Starting with a certain someone's first birthday.

These are the days of our lives, the fullest days, the best days. 2014, we are so ready for you.

Making 2014 Count

A few days ago I said farewell to the most wonderful year of my life- and just like that, 2013 was gone. The year of Austin's birth is behind us, which means this year he will turn one. Soon we will begin celebrating his second of all of the holidays, hopefully hear his first words, and continue to watch him grow and enjoy life as a spirited and sweet little angel baby.

In January, we welcomed the most perfect addition to our little family, Austin Grant Martinez.

In February, we celebrated Austin's first holiday, and snuck in a few extra thousand kissies.

In March, Austin set aside his Colombian roots for the day while he celebrated his Irish side ;) Such a little squishy!

We ended March with Easter mass, brunch, and this round little bunny.

In April, we enjoyed watching our newborn transform into an infant, overflowing with personality. And cheeks.

May was filled with lots of brotherly snuggles and Austin's first food!

In June, we celebrated Daddy's 25th birthday. Read here.

In July, we enjoyed family and fireworks for the fourth of July. Read here.

In August, we began renovating the condo, and lived our last days in our first apartment before making the big move!

In September, Duke enjoyed a long day with some friends at the park. I wish we had taken him there more often. September also kicked off our Fall photo shoots.

In October, Austin took on the night as Peter Pan at the Jacksonville Zoo's Spooktacular event. And then grew out his hair. Read here.

In November, we traveled to Texas for a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with Juan's family. Read here.

In December, we celebrated my 22nd birthday, and of course, some Christmas fun. Read herehere, and here.

Looking back on this first year with our Austin and at all of these precious moments just fills my heart with love. This angel has grown so much in his first year and I am so excited to see what 2014 will bring us. I am letting go of all the stress, the worry, the rush to get this done and that- I want nothing more than to live in the moment with this sweet angel and soak up every second with him.

Here's to 2014 and all of the blessings and new memories it will bring! Cheers!

Second Day of Christmas

On the second day of Christmas my grandpa gave to me: a ticket to the see The Nutcracker Ballet! And it was ahhhmazing. Nothing like nauseously in shape women and middle aged men in tights to really make you get that iron pumping. It was beautiful and I could hardly keep my legs still- how much trouble do you reckon I'd be in had I hopped on stage with them, busted a move or two? We did have pretty wonderful seats, despite the quality of these pictures. I'm sure I broke every no flash photography rule in the book.
On the third day of Christmas, we ate. And ate, and ate some more. At least this babe did. And he still looks just as good in his baby boy leggings as those male ballerinas. Round thighs and all. Yum. At eleven months old, Austin still favors fruit. He also finished off our Christmas HoneyBaked Ham, this babe knows where it's at!
On the fourth day of Christmas my girlfriends and I enjoyed a night in, exchanging gifts and catching up. Austin even took part in a bit of late night fun- he got an extra special gift from his aunties that has been on his wish list for a while! The next day we met downtown to snap a few festive photos of the four of us. Any one else on board to start a Fort Pierce petition to keep this tree up year round??

These past few days have been spent with our Georgia family, and there are more of them coming for the New Year! We cannot wait! Little cousin Tyler will be paying this anxious babe a visit as well!
First official play date?! Little boys!

And, for the record, I am totally aware that my kid went around town without pants. Yes, it's a onesie. And yeah, he had shoes on. Live and let live, baby boy! We love those legs!
Didn't finish everything on your Christmas fun list? Welcome to the club. Too much to do, too little time. Join in on the Twelve Days of Christmas fun! In our book, we still have six more days to get Christmas out of our system. If it's possible. I wish you the happiest of New Years and the merriest of the rest of your Christmas days!
